Goin Out There
Deep Autumn Blessings + music updates
Come home to yourself
And breathe deeply.
Come home to yourself
And rest.
Come home to yourself
And dream fully,
And carry the dream with you
out there --
on your path.
Greetings on this sparkling autumn day. As the Full Moon in Taurus, a supermoon of extraordinary beauty (ruled by Venus after all), still graces the land and all upon it. How can we not but feel into the deep mystery of life and death this time of year?
This past weekend, on the heels of returning from a truly wonderful trip/tour in Colorado, I took Mexican Sunflowers and striped Marigolds, still somehow holding up under the new chill, up to the graves of my sister Rachel and my father Frank, on the hill near my house on the farm. The view is stunning from the old cemetery. We wanted them to see House Mountain, if they so choose, every day, in all weather, in all dimensions, all at once. They get to be everywhere at once now; they get to love everything at once.
That feeling, idea, energy, is riding with me these days, like a subtle but lasting scent upon the wind. It is a gift. A “gift wrapped up in sorrow”, which is a line from my new single, “Goin Out There”, a song I actually wrote just before my sister passed last January.
Today I am writing to remind you all that the new song is “out there” on the streaming platforms and I hope you will check it out if you haven’t already.
It is a song but also a sort of meditation. I want to share the lyrics with you:
I’m goin out there, I’m really goin out there
I’m goin out there, no looking back
I’ve got my own route, I’ve got my own map
Guided by visions, they’ll never find me --
Oh I’m keeping it, secret
I’m keeping it, to myself…
I’m goin in, I’m really goin in
I’m goin all in, no turning back
And every mountain, and every sunset
And every raven, is another reason
That I open
this gift
wrapped up in sorrow --
I’m goin out there, I’m really goin out there
I’m goin out there, I’m goin out there ---
We released this new single under my new artist name (also just my real name and oldest name) “JJ Niceley”. The problem is most of the rest of my catalogue is still under “Jennifer Jane Niceley”. As I have been wont to complicate these things before, I am trying to take all the necessary steps in a timely manner to merge all the profiles and get the entire digital catalogue updated and under JJ Niceley. For now, I am still found in more than one place and I hope that you all will bear with me! Here’s two places the new single can be found, but please search if you use other platforms:
If you read my last post about Colorado, you know how much I was looking forward to returning there for our first little tour in six years. We were absolutely blessed in every way, and I have so much gratitude for all who helped us pull it off and make it a success. We will definitely be back sooner than later...
Lastly, if you are in East TN, we are finally playing a show here again, this weekend! A trio performance with Feathered Mason and Jason Goforth, at Bluestem Hollow in Greenback, TN. A farm-to-table “Great Smoke Out” dinner, with two sets from us on their beautiful land. Learn more and get tickets here.
In Nashville, we’ll be back at Eastside Bowl with the full band on Saturday, November 15.
As always, thank you for following along.
Blessings to you all.
JJN
